BABY CUPCAKE HAS ARRIVED!

I couldn’t be happier to share the news that, at 6:23am on February 9, after 9 months and 2 days of a high risk pregnancy, my little Cupcake was born. She is happy, healthy and has a hearty appetite (to say the least!). I suffered some postpartum complications which resulted in surgery and 4 liters of blood loss (ouch!), but I am recovering well and the labour and delivery went fabulously… a real dream come true. I want to sincerely thank all of you who have taken the time to wish us well during the pregnancy… your warm and generous support has meant so much and I am truly grateful! I hope to get back to blogging and reading the posts of others more regularly soon, but for now hormones, exhaustion and falling in love with my baby are dictating that I step away from the computer for a little while 😉

      • I’m so glad your feeling a little better every day 🙂 I was thinking about you yesterday and was wondering how you were getting on! Eat loads of iron rich food (which I’m sure your doing!!!) Sending lots of love xxx

      • Thank you, lovely! I am trying… ate spinach with my lunch today. Also trying to drink lots of water with lemon juice so that the vitamin C will aid iron absorption. Hope things are great with you! Love to you and yours xx

  7. congrats! so cute! I hoping everything was fine for you, so glad it turned out O.K. She looks tiny – I had my girl at 36 weeks and 1 day and she was 2.1 kilos. I can’t believe how small she was when I look at the pictures.

    • Thank you so much! I will be doing my best over the next couple of months to try and integrate spending some time on wp with my new routine and commitments… will be sure to check in and see what’s going on in your lovely blog-scape 🙂 All the best xx

  9. Congratulations on your precious little lady! Hang in there and be sure to give yourself some grace in recovery. I lost a lot of blood (like, all of my own) when I had my last baby and it has taken a long time to build my strength back up! She is beautiful! What a treasure!

    • Thank you so much! Yes, it’s true… the recovery process can be long. I lost 3.2 liters of blood last time, and that was bad enough. Hope you are doing great now. Best wishes to you and yours 🙂 xx

  10. I don’t just “like” this post– I love it!! So, so happy for you and all the joys you have ahead. Thankful it all turned out well and you and the baby are OK. I’ve been checking your blog, just waiting for the news! God Bless you in all the happiness of being a mother. So much to come…

  11. She is a little cupcake! Congratulations to your family! I love it how babies are born in phases, you hear everyone having boys, boys, boys. Now all I hear are girls, girls; girls! Girls are back! haha 🙂

    • Thank you so much! And yes, I think that’s true too! When I was pregnant with my son, maybe 80% of the pregnant women I knew were also expecting boys… now the “trend” is girls ;)- funny! All the best to you xx

    • Thank you so much! 😀 I am doing much better and little miss is settling in at home well (yep, it’s a girl cupcake 😉 ) All the best to you, Sophie xx

  12. Congratulations on your delicious little Cupcake! Babies are big souls in tiny bodies and I’ll bet she’s filling your life with joy. Enjoy! Please give her extra hugs and kisses all the way from a New Jersey and be good to yourself, as in it’s okay to nap when the baby does! xoxo

    • Aw, I love that… “big souls in tiny bodies” :)! So sweet of you! Will definitely pass on your hugs and kisses. Thank you for the kind wishes. Oh, and I am napping as often as possible right now 😉 The very best to you and yours xxx

    • Yes, Carolyn… it’s ‘all systems go’ over here right now ;), but of course all worth it… and lovely 🙂 Thank you for your kind words and wishes! All the best to you and yours xx

  13. I’m thrilled to see this post. You had been on my mind but I haven’t been keeping up with my blog so I just found this today. I am so happy to see this, she is just beautiful. I’m glad your doing well despite medical issues. I have some news , I am expecting a baby as well. I have been taken out of work with medical issues but thank God things are going well. I will post about it soon. I look forward to updates from you and I know your enjoying this time with your new bundle of joy.

    • Oh my gosh :D! I am going to check out your blog immediately (assuming you may have written an update there now?). I truly hope you are doing ok!!! And huge congrats to you! I have thought of you so often… and I have been hoping your rainbow would arrive! Big hugs and very best wishes to you!!! xxx

  14. My goodness, I’m a little late on the news, but would still love to congratulate you on this gorgeous little cupcake! One of my close friends recently gave birth (on the 10th of Feb, no less!) and it really is such a miracle and wonderful occasion. Enjoy your time with her, see you back in the blogland soon 🙂

    • Thank you so much, Melissa! Miracle is right 🙂 Congrats to your friend! Hope to be back around wp a little more soon. All the best to you in the meantime! xx

    • Thank you so much :)! I hired a doula at the 11th hour (2 weeks before my due date), but it was a fabulous decision and literally hours after giving birth I was so amazed by the experience and so happy that I said to my husband “I want to do it again!”… I may have also been a bit delirious and hormonal 😉
All the best to you! x

    • Hi! She is doing well, thank you! We all caught colds last week, which was a bit worrying as she developed a chesty cough… but lots of nursing and cuddles with a humidifier running in the bedroom sorted it out quickly 🙂 And she is indeed very sweet… I am feeling blessed :). Hope you’re enjoying the new meditation challenge! I am a couple of days behind, but hope to catch up. All the best! xx

      • Thanks for the update. Hope those nasty germs fly out the window. I was blown away by Day 6’s meditation. Empowering! Glad you are catching it when you can. Hugs to the Babies!

    • Thank you so very much! I really appreciate all your kindness over the past months 🙂 It is so great to have my baby here finally 🙂 All the very best to you and yours xxx

  15. I know I am a little late, but Congratulations!!! Enjoy time with your little one, and hope you are recovering. I had a PPH and lost over 1L of blood. I cannot even imagine 4! All worth it, I’m sure, for such a cute lil bub 🙂
